Surviving the Snow

Being stuck inside yet again, we had to come up with something new to do. We've baked everything under the sun (2 kinds of bread, cookies and cupcakes in the last 48 hours), read books, watched more TV than ever before....what else is left?

That's right--setting a tent up in the living room! It's a total novelty and *hopefully* hours of amusement!

Playing in the Snow

Kiernan isn't a huge fan of playing in the snow, but Oliver loves it. Luckily, with the size of our yard, Oliver can head out on his own and play. This particular time he dressed himself and went out---he only needed help with the door!

Happy Birthday to You.

It wasn't anyone's birthday, but we made a cake (flourless chocolate...mmmm....) Kiernan started singing on his own, but when I busted out the Flip, he needed Oliver to help him.

The Indoor Snowman

Bringing the Snow Indoors!

I wish I could take credit for this incredible idea, but it was Steph that shared this with us. Totally amazing and captivating, and way warmer than playing outside.

Kiernan really enjoyed digging and moving the snow, getting his grapes really cold and trying to drink the snow water. He did play for about 40 minutes though.
An hour and 15 minutes in and Oliver is STILL super happy and playing. He's been making snow castles and his dump truck is doing some serious work.
As a left-handed boy, he said that only one hand was getting cold. So, he pulled a Michael Jackson.

Treasure Coast Kid's Museum

On one of our cold days we still managed to get out and have a lot of fun. We went to the childrens' museum with Jebby and Lolo. It was lots of fun. After the museum we took a walk out on a pier.

Walking in Miami

Kiernan is a big kid with his tag*a*long!

Florida!

We spent a few days in Florida, which helped us avoid the second snow in Philly in a few days. Sadly, the snow is still on the ground, but at least we got a few good days of playing outside!

The weather was still a bit cool there---mid 60s everyday, but the pool at the hotel in Miami was heated to 85. The boys spent lots of time in the water!

It was a bit too windy to be at the beach much. Oliver would have stayed there all day, but Kiernan kept getting freaked out.

Fish!

More Airport Fun

We had 4 hours to kill in Charlotte, but it was actually pretty fun.

And it led to sleeping boys on the airplane.

Playing Baseball

For my birthday Gam and Bop-Bop got me an HD Flip video camera---expect lots more of the boys in action! Thank you!!!!

27 Inches of SNOW!

We just returned from a trip to Long Island---only to find out that we couldn't pull in our driveway due to more than two feet of snow. If anyone's counting, that's TWO storms this winter that have dumped more than 24 inches (this winter now holds the place for 2nd and 3rd most snow in Philly history. yay.)

Luckily I have a "no shoveling" clause in our marriage, so it was up to Mike. BUT, with a driveway this small, it only takes a few minutes!

Coming Home to Snow

This is what we came home to, before my amazing husband shovelled us out.

Saying Hi to Charlie

Kiernan really wanted to play with Charlie, but it may have been a bit much for the little guy. Soon enough though!!!

Cousins Are the Best!

Oliver and Kiernan really love seeing Charlie--and they really can't wait to be able to play with him. The highlight of their weekend was clearly getting to sit and hold him.

Playing With Cousin Charlie

We went to Long Island to celebrate Bop-Bop's (aka Grandpa or Michael-the-Elder) 60th birthday! It was a really wonderful time--even Petey flew back from San Francisco (although we missed his better half, Vanessa). Oliver and Kiernan both LOVED playing with Charlie (who is insanely adorable). Here's a little video of Oliver playing with him.

Midwinter Trip to the Zoo!

We took a trip to the zoo today with Jack and Wes and Steph. It was a ton of fun-and we practically had the place all to ourselves.

All of the animals were out and about on this balmy day (40 degrees, but we'll take it). The highlight of the trip (for me) was getting to see the new orangutan baby! I didn't get a great photo, but you can see her below---she's sort of sitting on her moms knee, and they are looking at each other.

Oliver and Jack checking out one of the gorillas.
All 4 boys (Jack, Kiernan, Oliver, Wes (L-R)) checking out the orangutans.
Eating lunch outside---Jack is wondering what Oliver is laughing about....
The zoo has a huge indoor play space. It has a really big tree house and lots of other cool things to climb in. This is Oliver in a frog.
