Zoo Time

We went to the zoo today--and it was great, although extraordinarily hot. Philly's summer has finally arrived, and man, I wish it would go away! We had fun though-and Oliver and Jack showed their little buddy Sam lots of new climbing tricks. (Sam isn't in any photos, next time buddy)!

Two Days in a Row!

This weekend we decided to hit the beach TWICE! It was awesome, although as Stephanie said, she's lived in Philly her whole life and has never known anyone who drove to the beach two days in a row! It was so great, we'll probably do it more often (and since when do Mike and I fit in the mold of normal)?

On Saturday our neighbors, Mike and Jess, came down with us. It was a lot of fun---we played frisbee, bocce, and baseball, and we dug a huge pool that was filled from the ocean.

On our way down on Sunday, Oliver was eating a bagel with cream cheese. He decided he was done, and instead of handing it to me, he gave it to Kiernan. Great that he shared, but....it was a MESS!
We also decided that it was time to get Kiernan some real swimwear--so we bought a one-piece bathing suit. It's perfect and means a lot less sun screen for the little guy. Plus, who doesn't look hot with fire on their sleeves?

Sunday's hole was enormous---we actually dug until we hit water (and not because we were close to the shore line). There was a huge tunnel that went all around it too, and a slide that went into the pool. The boys (and by this, I mean Oliver, Kiernan AND Mike) were really sad to leave the beach and this huge hole behind.
(Note Oliver's head in the pit)

Taking a few minutes to cool off in the tent.

Lots and Lots of Teeth!

Kiernan has worked hard in the last month to get his teeth in---he now has SIX!!! Four on top, and two on bottom. This is the best we could do to capture them, but I'm sure he'll be showing them off again soon!

A Walk in the Woods

Today we decided to try out a new park for a picnic. We found this great spot in the shade and the boys ran around like maniacs.
Here are Oliver and Jack hiding from the pirate and shark that kept trying to get them. (Jack may also be eying the last bits of Oliver's cookie since Oliver eats more slowly than the J-man).
And the spot was so great, we decided to try to get a good photo of all 4 boys. As we've discussed before, this is close to impossible. But I think we have some good ones here!
(Oliver LOOOOOVES baby Wes!)

After our photo shoot, we took a walk down to the river--and along a nice paved path. Going home we wanted to avoid a steep dirt path hill we had come down, so we followed the pavement. We then got lost, and bushwhacked home (the below photo was the tamest part of our trek). The dirt path clearly would have been the better option.

Run Away!

We've got to watch our fast little man---if you turn your back for a second, he's off, wandering down the garden path towards freedom. Luckily this day the bike trailer caught his interest, and he was stalled in his escape.

Cool Dude.

Oliver got new sneakers--his running shoes--and insists on wearing them with his sox pulled ALL the way up. It looks awesome.

Arboretum Conversation

Oliver and Jack were in the middle of a very serious conversation about Jack's shorts when I interrupted them...

and made them wave.

Ocean City...Again!

I believe it is now official: we are beach bums. We go every chance we get--and the beautiful thing is that we get there so early, we're able to stake out half the beach so we feel like we're there by ourselves. Yesterday we were on the beach at 8:45 in the morning...and we started digging our requisite "pit". This one was pretty cool, had a nice tunnel to the water, although the waves never got close enough to fill it up.
Once the pit digging had ceased to be enough entertainment, Mike decided he wanted to bury me. I said no, so he promptly buried himself and Oliver.

We took Kiernan on a nice long walk, and he passed out to the sound of the waves. Yet again, another great day at the beach!

Big Cubbies Fan

Or maybe he's just a Sam Fuld fan, but either way, we've been having lots of fun watching uncle Sam tear it up in the majors!

Catching Fireflies

After going into the city for the 4th, we came back and caught fireflies on our back deck. Emily and Eliza came over to help us catch the bugs---bringing merriment and blueberries to the festivities. A wonderful way to spend an evening.
